PDO threads stimulate the bodies natural collagen production helping to rejuvenate the face by lifting out skin folds and reducing the appearance of wrinkles over time.
The PDO threads are extremely fine and look like a single strand of hair attached to a needle for incision. The threads will dissolve naturally within the skin over a period of up to 6 months. Results will begin to show roughly 2-4 months after the insertion of the threads, in this time your own collagen will be forming around the thread to create the soft lift.
There are a variety of factors that will determine how effective the threads are for an individual. The following lifestyle factors may limit the treatment results, as it has a direct effect with the production of a person’s collagen: High BMI, smoking, drinking alcohol excessively, illicit drugs, medication and excessive sun exposure and clients over 55.

To help ease any discomfort for our clients we use a topical numbing cream to create ease when performing the treatment. The procedure takes between 15 - 40 minutes depending on how many areas are being treated. Different areas require different numbers of threads and different types of threads, your technician will choose the threads relevant to the area and suitability for the clients skin type. Most client experience little pain or discomfort during the procedure and manage very well, in some areas you may feel a small scratch and slight pulling sensation.
Clients should have dental work conducted several weeks before the procedure if they are having treatment for lower face and should postpone any dental work for 1 month post procedure. Clients should book their treatment at least 1 month before a special event to allow for bruising and swelling to settle. We advise to not drink alcohol 48 hours prior to treatment, avoid blood thinning medication (if not prescribed), avoid retinol creams and invasive facials 2 weeks before.
Clients should expect mild – moderate bruising and swelling to the area. Some clients may experience discomfort and tenderness to the area afterwards. There can be around 20% increase in lift straight after the threads have been placed within the skin.

PLLA sutures use poly L-lactic acid and help to increase volume to the area whilst stimulating collagen with effects lasting around 12 months and results being more instant. PDO threads are 100% absorbable and biocompatible and focuses on soft tissue lifting and tightening, results last 6-12 months. COG (Barbed) threads are more invasive and are suitable for clients 45+ immidate results peak at 6 months and last between 2-3 years.
This is based on how effective the persons collagen is. We would recommend another session 6 months after the first session for longer lasting results of 18-24 months.
Minor risks include: Temporary redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness and dimpling of the skin. Moderate risks include prolonged dimpling of the skin, thread displacement, prolonged aching. Rare risks would include infection, nerve damage, nodule formation.
Clients suitable for treatment are those that have loose skin and lost tone in their face, typically around the jowls or brow area. Some clients that have moderate-severe ptosis of the tissue may require an alternative thread than what we offer at the clinic, such as COGS or PLLA. Clients who are within a normal healthy BMI are suitable for treatment. Results for those who are underweight or overweight would be comprised and we do not suggest this treatment. Clients who are under 18 or pregnant or breastfeeding are also unsuitable.
PDO threads are a considered a safe treatment with mostly minor risks. They can be combined with other treatments such as dermal fillers and anti ageing treatments.
As everyone produces collagen at different rates it is unlikely that every client would achieve the same results. It is important to understand results improve gradually over weeks/months and are not immediate. Clients should not compare this to results you would get from a surgical face lift and have realistic expectations.
